Amin Adam: Ghana's economy is headed toward stability.

The Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has said that Ghana's economy is stabilizing.

He credits the nation's excellent economic recovery and development for this.

On Sunday, April 21, 2024, after the Spring Meetings in Washington, he delivered these statements during a news conference.

The Minister emphasized that by the end of 2022, the primary deficit accounted for 4.3% of GDP.

He pointed out that the main deficit had decreased by four percentage points by the end of 2023, to a meager 0.3%.

By year's end, he expects a 0.5% GDP surplus, and by the next year, a 1.5% GDP surplus.

By the end of 2022, for instance, the primary deficit amounted to 4.3% of GDP. By the end of 2023, the main deficit had dropped to only 0.3%, a decrease of over 4 percentage points. We anticipate having a 0.5% GDP surplus at year's end and a 1.5% GDP surplus the next year.

"Therefore, we are making good progress, the recovery is robust, and we are rapidly approaching stabilization—which is necessary to spur growth," he said.
